Screenshot Prevention is a privacy feature that helps you protect your profile and conversations on Hornet. Necessary protections are available to everyone, while full protection is included with Membership.
Regardless of membership status, your Private Photos and Expiring Photos are always protected. Other users cannot take screenshots of all photos in your private albums and expiring photos you share. Any attempt to screenshot these will be blocked by our system.
With a Hornet Membership, Screenshot Prevention covers even more of your presence on the app. When turned on, Members gain screenshot protection for:
- Chats: prevents others from capturing your conversations
- Profile: protects your main profile photo, full-screen images, and your full profile view
These protections apply automatically as long as Screenshot Prevention is enabled in your Privacy settings. Here’s how you do it:
- Open the Hornet app and go to your Profile.
- Tap the ⋯ (three‑dot) icon in the upper‑right corner.
- Tap Settings and then select Privacy.
- Set the Disable Screenshots toggle on.
If someone tries to take a screenshot of your profile or chats while this feature is enabled in your privacy settings, they’ll see a screen that says: “This user has disabled screenshots of their chat and profile.”
You can still take screenshots of your own content if you wish. This feature only affects how others can capture what you share.
A note on real-world safety: While Screenshot Prevention blocks in-app screenshots, it cannot stop someone from taking a photo of their screen with another device. For this reason, please continue to be careful if you choose to share sensitive content. In addition, Screenshot Prevention is available on the Hornet app only. It does not work on the web version.
